Courtney Somers

Courtney had much success in the ponies before beginning training with Pam Baker, who greatly shaped her philosophy, riding, and teaching style.  As an amateur, Courtney won championships on the East Coast from Pennsylvania to Florida, along with many state and local medal finals.  As a professional, she rode for Pam Baker until becoming a coach for the Greenway IEA Team and Towson University IHSA Team.  She now is focusing on her own business and has recently started her own IEA team with her mother, Linda.

Courtney has the knowledge, empathy and patience to train green and problem horses. This empathy allows her to train horses to become willing and comfortable in their jobs. When coaching, she strives to give her riders a definite system of communication with their horses which first allows them to ride with empathy for their horse and then second to be successful in competitions.

Linda Somers

Linda has been riding and working with horses since she was a ten years old.  Very successful in her own right as an amateur, she then cut back her riding time to help Courtney with her project horses and to breed some horses of her own.  Being ringside as a ground person with Courtney and her trainer, she got as much training as Courtney did.  Her focus is with the beginner lessons, in which she makes sure that her students get started on the right foot.

"Greatness is a lot of small things done well,

stacked up on each other."

(Ray Lewis - retired Baltimore Ravens Linebacker)
